Hankinnan lyhyt kuvaus | Description of the system Acoustic liquid dispenser moves droplets of liquid based on the sound wave emitted by the acoustic transducer. By controlling the energy instrument ejects precisely sized liquid droplets from the liquid surface of the source well to the destination target. Acoustic liquid dispensing is used to move precise nano scale aliquots of liquid fully contact free. Fully contactless dispensing eliminates risks of cross-contamination. The acoustic dispenser will be part of the protein crystallization core facility of Biocenter Oulu (BCO). The core facility has an open access policy and instrumentation and software should be easy to use and meet the requirements of users form different research areas. Nano scale liquid transfer will be used for (but is not restricted to) compound management, crystallization experiments and cell assays. The instrument can be used to replicate libraries from multi-well plates, prepare assay ready plates, minimize assay volumes or cherry-pick samples and prepare crystallization experiments like screening of crystallization conditions with commercial screens and setup co-crystallization and ligand soaking experiments. The instrument can dispense various liquid types including aqueous liquids and DMSO. The software can be used to control the instrument and define dispense source and destination locations. The software comes with detailed documentation of all features and software upgrades are made available regularly. The instrument and the software are well suitable for a multi-user environment. |
