Description and requirements for product: "Mechanical, pulsatile heart support system (Ventricular Assist Device, VAD). The paracorporeal VAD is used for the short to long-term support of the left and/or right ventricular pumping function. Product should be indicated for children with life-threatening heart failure after all conservative therapeutic options have been exhausted. Designed for use in young patients, from newborns to adolescents. Restoration of the blood perfusion required for supplying the organs in cases of heart failure. Should have broad range of application: bridging until transplantation or until myocardial recovery. Compatible pumps and cannulae for patients: weight 6-25kg and varying anatomical conditions.
