| Hankinnan lyhyt kuvaus | OBJECT OF THE RFI The purpose of the procurement is to acquire a transcoding and Origin services solution that has modern capabilities and flexibility to manage the process. The Yleisradio video and audio program online service is called Yle Areena. Yle Areena was released in 2007 and it is one of Yle’s largest and most important online services. Yle Areena is also Finland’s most well-known and awarded media brand online. Yle Areena supports Yle’s strategy to provide media material for large audiences in Finland but also to provide accessible media for different focus groups like non-finnish speakers and people who require accessibility services. Areena has over 3 million users weekly and Areena service is completely free for its users. Yle Areena contains multiple different kinds of media varying from full length movies, sports events, series and episodes to news and current affairs. The media also has a variety of different aspects related to them. There can be multiple audio and subtitle languages related to the media but also accessibility tracks and captions. Over 86 million streams are started every month with over 50 thousand different videos and audio files available for every device. Yle’s current online video platform solution has been in Yle’s use since 2015. The current solution is software as a service (Saas ) containing both transcoding and origin services for Yle Areena. Yle has developed its own API stack to support the current solution. The picture below illustrates on a high level how the current system serves Yle Areena. The CDN service Yle uses is Akamai. The current state and current solution does not fully support Yle Areena’s future roadmap. Thus Yle wants to renew and modernize the current solution so that future video and audio trends such as for example 4k video, 5.1 audio would be supported and new codecs would be supported. Yle is planning to procure an online video platform for Yle areena as a software as a service (SaaS). The procurement has been planned so that the service is divided into two different segments: - Transcoding solution - Origin services solution. The provider can either offer a solution for one of the segments or a complete solution that includes both transcoding and origin services. In the target state of the online video platform, Yle would have a modern solution or solutions where transcoding and origin services both support and enable modern technologies for audio and video. The solution should support a variety of different end user devices also. INTERESTED?
