| Hankinnan lyhyt kuvaus | Micro Computed Tomography (CT) Scanner will be acquired for The Finnish Museum of Natural History, Luomus, University of Helsinki. The need and demand for open, accessible biodiversity information has increased significantly during the last decade. At present this information is still mainly contained within the millions of specimens, labels and archives across the collections, yet only available to a handful of scientists. To make it available to the global scientific community we have initiated a program to digitise and release data about the 13 million items in our collection. We have implemented mass digitisation processes and precision igitisation techniques. We are now updating our systems to the next level and with this new Micro CT Scanner we can expand the coverage of digitisation to other fields e.g. to skulls and other items. Estimated value or price range of procurement (excluding VAT): 300 000 – 450 000 euros. |
