Hankinnan lyhyt kuvaus | Electrical and Asymmetrical Flow Field Flow Fractionation (EAF4) instrument with multidetection platform will be acquired for the Biomolecular complex purification unit (Biocomplex) at the University of Helsinki. Biocomplex is part of the national integrated structural biology consortium Structural Biology in Finland (FINStruct, previously Instruct-FI), structural biology unit of Helsinki Institute of Life Sciences (Instruct-HiLIFE), and pan-European research infrastructure in structural biology (Instruct-ERIC). The unit is specialized in the purification of large macromolecular complexes that meet the quality and quantity requirements for samples intended for determination of high-resolution structures as well as other types of functional and biochemical tests. The instrument will be used with aqueous solutions for analysis and purification of biological samples such as proteins and their complexes, protein aggregates, biopolymers (nucleic acids and polysaccharides), lipid vesicles, extracellular vesicles, protein-nucleic acid complexes, virus-like particles, viruses, nanoparticles etc. Coupling to high quality online detectors is aiming at the determination of the molar mass, size, and size distribution of the studied samples. EAF4 enables obtaining information on the particle/molecule net charge and zeta potential. |
