| Hankinnan lyhyt kuvaus | The Hybrid Solar Cells research group in the Materials Science and Environmental Engineering unit of Tampere University is expanding their activities in next-generation organic and perovskite solar cells. The solar cell materials are very sensitive to ambient oxygen and moisture, so an inert atmostphere glove box is crucial in their fabrication. The group already has one 4-glove glove box, but as the research group has grown, it has been overcrowded and researchers have been working outside of office hours regularly. Therefore, the unit plans to buy a second glove box, similar to the first one. The glove box will have a nitrogen atmosphere with under 1 ppm oxygen and water content, a spin coater, balance, and two hot plates. The box will also house a cooling unit to counterbalance the heat from the hot plates, to keep the temperature both comfortable for users and ensure repeatable conditions for the experiments. The suppliers are expected to follow the illustration for the design of the required glove box system, as appended. In a few years, more laboratory space will become available with the building of the new Sähkötalo Research Hub, which is currently at its planning stage. At that time, the glove box to be purchased now will be integrated with a new glove box enclosure for a thermal evaporator which was purchased last year, as well as the old glove box. Together they will form a glove box cluster which will enable the group to optimize the sample fabrication completely in an inert atmosphere. |
