"The role of domestic tourism has increased during the Covid-19 pandemic due to heavy restrictions on international arrivals. The unexpected crisis has required flexibility from tour-ism enterprises and ability to update their service supply to better meet the demand of the domestic travelers. The reopening of travelling and tourism has started from the close mar-kets. In the Nordic context, this could mean increased role of domestic tourism and tourism in certain border regions between the Nordic countries. In addition, some predict that popu-larity of domestic tourism will continue to increase in the future years due to rising demand for more sustainable tourism services. Additionally, geopolitical tensions might increase interest towards domestic tourism.",

"The study aims to get insights into the recent and future developments in the Nordic do-mestic travel markets. By domestic markets in the Nordic countries, it is referred to tourism inside national borders (e.g. Iceland) or autonomous regions (e.g. \u00c5land), and in some spe-cific cases between the border-regions of Nordic countries (e.g. Finland and Sweden). The main focus here is to explore the best practices in developing and promoting domestic tour-ism in the Nordic countries. The purpose is to identify and describe those operating models developed during the crisis that would be useful for developing both domestic and interna-tional tourism in the Nordic countries in the longer run.",
