"One of the core missions in Visit Finland\u2019s strategy is leading with knowledge. In order to reach this goal, it is vital to have a comprehensive understanding of our target markets. In addition to the registered overnight statistics and the quantitative and qualitative surveys we conduct on our target markets, there is a strong need for more accurate information and forecasts of air capacity and air reservation information with booking data of visitors entering by plane to Finland. This insight helps travel industry professionals to make knowledge-based decisions, better anticipate the development of air connectivity as well as the travel demand, and focus on the most relevant consumer sectors with the most suitable products and services on the right moment. The main argument supporting this is that Destination Gateway provides the most comprehensive dataset in the market, reflecting not only past and future bookings made via travel agencies but also including bookings made directly with the airlines. This is a significant advantage as the free independent travellers (FIT\u2019s) book often their trips directly on the airline website and not via travel agencies.
