TAU has facilities to do small scale and pilot scale expressions and good FPLC instrumentation to do automated protein purification steps. ",

In addition, recombinant proteins may have unexpected properties, such as tendency to multimerize or aggregate during purification or later during storage in suboptimal conditions. This may cause false results and uncertainty to the research. Because the apparent molecular size of proteins often relates with their oligomeric state, it can be used to monitor the condition of precious samples. ",

"To ensure the quality of recombinant proteins and gain new understanding of their properties, contracting authority announces intent to purchase TwoMP Mass Photometer by Refeyn. With this instrument, TAU will achieve the ability to not only analyze protein quality (purity, homogeneity and oligomerization state), but also a new advanced, label-free way to measure biomolecular interactions and assembly of macromolecular complexes. TwoMP system is the only interferometric microscopy setup providing good enough quality, reproducibility, and stability to measure molecule mass at the relevant size range through a label-free light scattering-based method. As a single-molecule technique, TwoMP directly provides information on all individual sub-species in the sample, rather than collecting an ensemble signal. To contracting authority\u2019s best knowledge it is the sole instrument that enables label-free detection of molecular mass in native state, at the solution interface.",
